March 15, 2014:
Dear Ladies & Gentlemen,
Thank you for taking the time to visit our web site. Because of the news surrounding our gun promotion, I thought it best to address everyone this way instead of individually. I hope you will understand why I have taken this approach. As you can imagine, I have received dozens of requests for radio and television interviews the last couple of weeks, both here and internationally. Although I am the pastor of a church, I also work a full-time job that requires much of my attention. I am married, have children, grandchildren, a household(s), property, and, yes, even two chicken coops and a bull calf (that we plan on slaughtering this coming autumn / early winter) that take up much of my time. It is not that I do not want to give interviews. It is just that my time is very limited. I do not mean to be short or unreachable in any way. As newsworthy as this has been made out to be, it is not the biggest thing in my life. It is not the only thing we teach or preach about at our church. But it is one of the subjects that is very important and the Bible is very clear about it, as I shall explain below.
Please allow me to address each group separately. To all those who have sent messages to us via phone, mail, emails, or carrier pigeon, please check here periodically to keep updated with my answers to the questions that people have asked. I do understand how people can have questions and doubts concerning our promotion or whether it is right Biblically to keep and bear arms. Anyone who has ever heard me say anything about guns from the pulpit has almost always heard me say that folks should NOT have guns if they have anger issues, no self-control, marital problems, suicidal thoughts, mental issues, a criminal record, if they use drugs, etc. I do understand the questions that arise in people's minds as to why our church would do such a thing. Our church voted to do this. Our church bought a mailing list of 18,000 addresses of married hunters. We specifically targeted folks who were hunters. With the transient nature of our society, it was inevitable that non-hunters would receive some of these flyers. If you did not like the flyer, if you are against guns, if you think this is a bad idea, all you need to do is throw the flyer away. Only a handful of people out of 18,000 asked us to take their name and / or their mailing address off the mailing list, which we will do. One of our goals, as previously mentioned, is to be a blessing and an encouragement to gun owners and hunters who have been under assault by socialist politicians (code word!) the last few years. I personally believe there is a big disconnect between our society today and the Word of God and, to a lesser extent, the U.S. Constitution, especially the Bill of Rights. I am not mad or upset that some folks are upset. That is very understandable. I personally do not believe it is healthy for anyone to agree one hundred percent with anyone else on everything, whether it be religious, political, or societal. I believe God made every individual unique and I believe that every individual adult should never be intimidated to speak the truth as they see it, whether it offends or hurts someone's psyche. For those who are of a left political persuasion, please talk to the many Republican people who either left our church or never came back to our church during the eight years George Bush was president because I was not afraid to say the truth. It is easy for the public or the media to take this one subject and blow it out of proportion to give you a view that this is just a political stunt. I beg to differ with you. People in our church invited our Democrat mayor years ago to our church one time and he came and he seemed to enjoy the services. We invited our Republican mayor to our services and he never came. I am not upset with him or anyone else. I understand busy lives and busy schedules. But because the national media has mostly become socialist, then that is the slant that they give in most of their stories. If anything, I would consider myself a libertarian, something both high-powered Republicans hate and most Democrats scoff and mock at.
But now I have come to the last group of people I wish to address; and those are the fake, phony, and fraud religious leaders who love their money (God says in I Timothy 6:10, "the love of money is the root of all evil") and their so-called "ministries" more than they love Jesus Christ. They love their salaries, their money, their houses, their cars, their vacations, their pensions, their retirement, their following more than they love the Word of God. I do understand why most people do not see the connection between the Bible and what we are doing. As a matter of fact, I believe at least the atheists, agnostics, and Satanists are being honest in their hatred and disgust at what we are doing. I cannot argue with them. They see the world much different than I do as a Bible believer. But it is to those Pharisees who cloak themselves in religious garments and either refuse to read the Bible or ignore what the Bible teaches and therefore allow their followers to be ignorant sheeple ready for the slaughter that is diabolical. The following Bible quotations are only just the tip of the iceberg of the many verses in the Bible that command us to protect and defend our loved ones, our homes, and our country. Ask any of the religious leaders about these very clear passages in the Word of God:
Genesis 14:14-16 - And when Abram heard that his brother was taken captive, he armed his trained servants, born in his own house, three hundred and eighteen, and pursued them unto Dan. And he divided himself against them, he and his servants, by night, and smote them, and pursued them unto Hobah, which is on the left hand of Damascus. And he brought back all the goods, and also brought again his brother Lot, and his goods, and the women also, and the people.
Exodus 15:3 - The LORD is a man of war. . .
Exodus 17:9 - . . . Choose us out men, and go out, fight . . .
Numbers 32:6-7 - . . . Shall your brethren go to war, and shall ye sit here? And wherefore discourage ye the heart of the children of Israel
Numbers 32:17 - But we ourselves will go ready armed
Numbers 32:20 - . . . go armed before the LORD to war
Numbers 32:27 - . . . every man armed for war, before the LORD to battle. . .
Judges 3:2 - . . . teach them war . . .
Judges 3:10 - And the spirit of the LORD came upon him, and he judged Israel, and went out to war:
Judges 20:16 - . . . every one could sling stones at an hair breadth, and not miss.
I Samuel 13:19-22 - Now there was no smith found throughout the land of Israel: for the Philistines said, Lest the Hebrews make them swords or spears: But all the Israelites went down to the Philistines, to sharpen every man his share, and his coulter, and his axe, and his mattock. Yet they had a file for the mattocks, and for the coulters, and for the forks, and for the axes, and to sharpen the goads. So it came to pass in the day of battle, that there was neither sword nor spear found in the hand of any of the people that were with Saul and Jonathan; but with Saul and with Jonathan his son was there found.
I Samuel 16:18 - (King David was) cunning . . . a mighty valiant man . . . a man of war . . . prudent in matters . . . and the LORD is with him.
2 Kings 11:8 - . . . every man with his weapons in his hand . . .
I Chronicles 5:18 - . . . valiant men, men able to bear buckler and sword, and to shoot with bow, and skilful in war . . .
I Chronicles 5:22 - . . . the war was of God.
I Chronicles 7:11 - . . . mighty men of valour. . . . soldiers, fit to go out for war and battle.
I Chronicles 12:8 - . . . men of might, and men of war fit for the battle, that could handle shield and buckler, whose faces were like the faces of lions, and were as swift as the roes upon the mountains;
I Chronicles 12:33 - . . . went forth to battle, expert in war, with all instruments of war. . . which could keep rank: they were not of double heart.
I Chronicles 12:38 - All these men of war, that could keep rank, came with a perfect heart . . .
2 Chronicles 17:18 - . . . ready prepared for the war.
Nehemiah 4:14 - . . . I looked, and rose up, and said unto the nobles, and to the rulers, and to the rest of the people, Be not ye afraid of them: remember the Lord, which is great and terrible, and fight for your brethren, your sons, and your daughters, your wives, and your houses.
Nehemiah 4:16 - . . . half of my servants wrought in the work, and the other half of them held both the spears, the shields, and the bows, and the habergeons; and the rulers were behind all the house of Judah.
Nehemiah 4:17 - . . . every one with one of his hands, wrought in the work, and with the other hand held a weapon.
Psalm 18:34 - He teacheth my hands to war. . .
Psalm 144:1 - Blessed be the LORD my strength, which teacheth my hands to war, and my fingers to fight: Proverbs 20:18 - . . . with good advice make war.
Ecclesiastes 3:1,8 - To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: (8) . . . a time of war, and a time of peace.
Song of Solomon 3:8 - They all hold swords, being expert in war: every man hath his sword upon his thigh because of fear in the night.
Isaiah 42:13 - The LORD shall go forth as a mighty man, he shall stir up jealousy like a man of war:
Ezekiel 9:1 - . . . every man with his destroying weapon in his hand.
Ezekiel 9:2 - every man a slaughter weapon in his hand:
Matthew 5:8-10 - (Jesus said about the centurion soldier) I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel.
Luke 7:1-10 - (Jesus said about the centurion soldier who was worthy, loved their nation, and built them a synagogue) I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel.
Luke 11:21-22 - When a strong man armed keepeth his palace, his goods are in peace: But when a stronger than he shall come upon him, and overcome him, he taketh from him all his armour wherein he trusted, and divideth his spoils.
Luke 14:31 - Or what king, going to make war against another king, sitteth not down first, and consulteth whether he be able with ten thousand to meet him that cometh against him with twenty thousand?
Luke 22:36 - Then said he unto them, But now, he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise his scrip: and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one.
Acts 10:1-4,7 - There was a certain man in Caesarea called Cornelius, a centurion of the band called the Italian band, A devout man, and one that feared God with all his house, which gave much alms to the people, and prayed to God alway. He saw in a vision evidently about the night hour of the day an angel of God coming in to him, and saying unto him, Cornelius. And when he looked on him, he was afraid, and said, What is it, Lord? And he said unto him, Thy prayers and thine alms are come up for a memorial before God. . . . And when the angel which spake unto Cornelius was departed, he called two of his household servants, and a devout soldier of them that waited on him continually;
I Timothy 3:2 - A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife. . .
Revelation 19:11 - And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war.
As you can see from the previous verses, the Word of God is very clear that there is nothing wrong with having armies and soldiers to fight and protect us in times of war. At the same time, the Bible is also replete with verses about an individual's right to protect his own. What is amazing to me is that when a pacifist quotes Jesus about Peter putting his sword back into his sheath when Jesus was being arrested is the fact that all his disciples carried swords for those three plus years while they were ministering with Jesus and not one time did Jesus say to get rid of their swords. The same thing is true with the centurions mentioned above. And the pacifists love to quote "Thou shalt not kill," while ignoring all the Bible verses approving of capital punishment. Does that mean we should not kill mosquitoes? Termites? Bugs? How immature of someone to take one scripture completely out of context to suit their own agenda. Yes, you should not live by the sword and take up the sword to live your life by it; but it is a necessary tool when society raises hellions who prey on the weak and vulnerable and have little or no remorse for the lives of others who try to live honestly and work hard to provide for their own. Billionaire Mr. Bloomberg can afford a team of bodyguards to protect himself from criminals and can live in a fortified and safe household, but yet he wants to refuse you to have the same ability to protect your loved ones. Americans are slowly being brainwashed to believe and follow Big Brother whom they say will protect you in times of trouble or emergencies. I have read that the average time it takes for a crime to be committed from the time the criminal engages the victim is 90 seconds. The average response time for law enforcement to respond to a 911 call across this country is anywhere from nine to 11 minutes, depending upon where you live. I have something that goes 2000 feet per second.
JUST FACTS (web site):
A 1993 nationwide survey of 4,977 households found that over the previous five years, at least 0.5% of households had members who had used a gun for defense during a situation in which they thought someone "almost certainly would have been killed" if they "had not used a gun for protection." Applied to the U.S. population, this amounts to 162,000 such incidents per year. This figure excludes all "military service, police work, or work as a security guard."
Based on survey data from the U.S. Department of Justice, roughly 5,340,000 violent crimes were committed in the United States during 2008. These include simple/aggravated assaults, robberies, sexual assaults, rapes, and murders.
Based on survey data from a 2008 study published in the Journal of Quantitative Criminology, U.S. civilians use guns to defend themselves and others from crime at least 989,883 times per year.
A 1993 nationwide survey of 4,977 households found that over the previous five years, at least 3.5% of households had members who had used a gun "for self-protection or for the protection of property at home, work, or elsewhere." Applied to the U.S. population, this amounts to 1,029,615 such incidents per year. This figure excludes all "military service, police work, or work as a security guard."
A 1994 survey conducted by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention found that Americans use guns to frighten away intruders who are breaking into their homes about 498,000 times per year.
A 1982 survey of male felons in 11 state prisons dispersed across the U.S. found:
34% had been "scared off, shot at, wounded, or captured by an armed victim"
40% had decided not to commit a crime because they "knew or believed that the victim was carrying a gun"
69% personally knew other criminals who had been "scared off, shot at, wounded, or captured by an armed victim"
At the current homicide rate, roughly one in every 240 Americans will be murdered.
A U.S. Justice Department study based on crime data from 1974-1985 found:
42% of Americans will be the victim of a completed crime (assault, robbery, rape) in the course of their lives;
83% of Americans will be the victim of an attempted or completed violent crime;
52% of Americans will be the victim of an attempted or completed violent crime more than once.
Currently, for every 12 aggravated assaults, robberies, sexual assaults, rapes, and murders committed in the United States, approximately, one person is sentenced to prison for committing such a crime.
Of 1,662 murders committed in New York City during 2003-2005, more than 90% were committed by people with criminal records.
In 1976, the Washington D.C. City Council passed a law generally prohibiting residents from possessing handguns and requiring that all firearms in private homes be (1) kept unloaded and (2) rendered temporarily inoperable via disassembly or installation of a trigger lock. The law became operative on Sept. 24, 1976. On June 26, 2008, the U.S. Supreme Court, in a 5-4 ruling, struck down this law as unconstitutional. During the years in which the D.C. handgun ban and trigger lock law was in effect, the Washington, D.C. murder rate averaged 73% higher than it was at the outset of the law, while the U.S. murder rate averaged 11% lower.
The homicide rate in England and Wales has averaged 52% higher since the outset of the 1968 gun control law and 15% higher since the outset of the 1997 handgun ban.
Since the outset of the Chicago handgun ban in 1982, the percentage of Chicago murders committed with handguns had averaged about 40% higher than it was before the law took effect.
Since the outset of the 2009 Texas right-to-carry law, the Texas murder rate has averaged 30% lower than it was before the law took effect.
Since the outset of the 2001 Michigan right-to-carry law, the Michigan murder rate has averaged 4% lower than it was before the law took effect.
Written with no apologies.
March 8, 2014:
Dear Supporters: This is not a raffle. There are no tickets to buy. You must be present and eligible to win. Each eligible adult will have their name put in the drawing only once and only one eligible adult will win the rifle. One eligible adult present Sunday morning, March 23, 2014, will win the NY-modified and NY legal "AR-15." This is not a fundraiser. To all the many who have kindly asked to buy non-existent raffle tickets or to donate to our church to help cover the cost of our giveaway, you may give whatever the Lord lays on your heart in the offering plate when it is passed or mail in your donation. Our church is purchasing the rifle from Oakwood Trading Post. The church has paid everything that has gone into this effort. It has been a great financial undertaking for our church. The sole purpose of this event is to be a help, a blessing, and an encouragement to all gun owners and hunters who have been viciously attacked by the socialist and antichristian media and politicians. For the many, many favorable and supportive responses we have received, we want to thank you deeply for your support and encouragement. Take courage. In the words of our famous forefather Patrick Henry, "Give me liberty or give me death." Please pray that the Lord will bless the singing and the preaching.
Dear Detractors: The Lord has commanded us in I Thessalonians 5:14 to comfort the feeble minded. In accordance to Matthew 5:44, we love you and pray for you all. To those fake, phony, and fraud pastors masquerading as religious leaders, I suggest you read the King James Bible in its entirety and then read the history of the American Revolutionary War where God's men were at the forefront for liberty and freedom and the spineless cowards sat back and supported the King of England and criticized those who put their necks on the line and were willing to sacrifice everything for the cause of liberty and freedom. To those with filthy, vulgar, obscene comments and death threats, we sincerely love you and pray for you. God bless you.
A letter from Pastor:
Dear Relatives, Friends, and Acquaintances,
For the past 27 years, our church has run buses and vans to pick up people from the projects and all over this area to bring them to church if they were unable to have the transportation or the means to come to our church. We have picked up entire families, teenagers, children, and parents and brought them to and from church. We have held our annual free Thanksgiving dinners, our annual free Hot Dog Sunday dinners during the Fourth of July weekend, our annual free Good Friday and Spaghetti MEATball dinners, and many other such activities and dinners to help those who were struggling, who needed help, or who were less fortunate than most others. We've always provided a free nursery, free Sunday Schools, and free Junior Church for babies, toddlers, and children who needed that extra structure and support to learn about Jesus Christ from the King James Bible.
We have decided to hold a special service honouring hunters and gun owners who have been so viciously attacked by the antichristian socialist media and antichristian socialist politicians the last few years. Our country was built with the King James Bible and the gun. To show our support for the many hunters and gun owners, we have decided to give a FREE NY-modified and legal AR-15 to one qualified individual on Sunday, March 23, 2014. Please feel free to tell others about our event. The winner has to attend the morning service, be at least 18 years of age, have a legal driver's license, and be able to pass the background check for buying a weapon. Grace Baptist Church reserves the right to refuse anyone of questionable character for whatever reason from winning the free NY-modified and legal AR-15. Oakwood Trading Post on Route 40 in Troy, NY, will be doing the background checks and the transaction will be at their gun store the following day.
Some of you already come to our church and know about this. Some of you do not. Some of you live a distance away. I would be remiss if I did not extend an invitation to you to come and be a part of our Sunday morning service on March 23, 2014. If you plan on coming, I would urge you to come as early as possible to find a seat. Seating will be limited. There is no off-road parking. Please feel free to share this with anyone who might be interested in attending. NY State Assemblyman Steve McLaughlin is scheduled to speak that morning and Evangelist Dr. Bob Gray from Longview, TX, will be preaching. If you cannot come, please pray for our meeting that God will bless the singing and the preaching. God bless you.
